For her new edition for Spike, Rachel Rose (*1986) catches a shimmering moment of metamorphosis between two egg-shaped objects – blown glass and rock – both formed out of sand. She used pigments, oils, and water to create a darkly abstract egg, emblazoned in dazzling black and white, that appears like an x-ray or early era photograph, glowing with the fiery rays of creation.
Solo shows have taken place at Lafayette Anticipations, Paris (2020), Fridericianum, Kassel, LUMA Foundation, Arles (2019), Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (both 2018). Among other group shows she has participated in “A Minute Ago”, Paris Museum of Modern Art (2019), and the 57th Venice Biennale (2017).
