Natalia LL's 1972–75 series “Consumer Art”

“Since approximately the mid-90s, Natalia LL has been considered a pioneer of feminist art in Poland. While her works are part of major national and international art collections, they have recently again been subjected to an act of censorship. What went viral as #bananagate and an act of collective eating of those fruits in May 2019 became a way to protest against the abrupt removal of three feminist works in the gallery of twentieth- and twenty-first-century art in the National Museum in Warsaw.”
