"Jakob Kudsk Steensen’s work is impressive in its ability to sustain paradoxes. The driving force in his recent videos is an interest in both nature and technology, two fields that are often at odds, at least as far as economic interests are concerned. But he waves this away in interviews with anecdotes: “growing up, I spent a lot of time playing computer games and tinkering with a game editor, but I also spend a lot of my time outside”. He characterises his interest in immersive technology as organic – “something relatively generational” and “a part of my personality since childhood”. Still, his pursuits make him somewhat hard to place – neither a hardened VR junkie nor a wholesome environmentalist (like fellow Dane Olafur Eliasson)."
