A Trip to Michigan

Through the lens of photographer Alexander Coggin

Alexander Coggin is an American Artist, self-taught Photographer and Theatre-Maker living and working in Berlin. Working between (staged) Theatre and (candid) Photography, he has grown obsessed with the idea that performance, status, gesture and presentationalism are all around us and should be paid attention to - interiors are sets and people are performers.

He started vacationing in Michigan in 2007. His now-Husband's family has been clanning there recreationally for 40+ years. They got married there this year and stayed a while on holiday. He hopes to document the lives, aesthetics, and physical genealogy of this family for years to come.
