#ARTOFFLINE (2015; 60 min)
A film by Manuel Correa
Saturday, 19 January, 7:30pm
Spike Berlin, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 45
Followed by a discussion between Correa and artist Julieta Aranda, moderated by Patrick Schabus.
What is happening to art in the age of the internet age? The philosophers, artists and exhibition makers in this documentary believe that endless reproduction liberates art from a muddled market and an undemocratic exhibition circuit. Many wonder whether the urge for physical objects is really just nostalgic fetishism. In contemporary times, taking selfies is an inherent part of visiting a museum. Digital technology has completely transformed the experience of art, and #ARTOFFLINE (2015; 60 min) lets viewers decide what they think is good. What will we lose if and when the physical artwork disappears?
MANUEL CORREA was born in Medellín, Colombia in 1991. In 2016 his film #ARTOFFLINE was premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
JULIETA ARANDA is an artist born in Mexico City, who currently lives and works between Berlin and New York.
PATRICK SCHABUS is an independent Berlin based artist, filmmaker and curator.
