The exhibition "#TullnART – Garten der Künstler" (Garden of the Artists) brings together positions from more than 20 contemporary artists that shed light on the subjects of the garden, nature and wilderness from a wide range of perspectives. The show, which is curated by Wolfgang Giegler, can be seen in the Town Hall/Minoritenkloster in Tulln until the 30 September 2018.

Defined as a fenced-off, private space the garden acts as a metaphor for existing limits that the artists breach or question in line with the motto “On the other side of the fence is the miracle”. They constantly address the limitations to their own metier and build bridges between highly differing disciplines, such as biology and fine art. Sonja Bäumel and Manuel Selg use their project “Mehr-Wesen” to examine the individual person and its dimensions, Clemens Wolf works across a broad spectrum that covers graphic design, painting, sculpture and installation, Erwin Wurm tests – often ironically – the limits of sculpture and Lois Weinberger uses a project specially designed for Tulln to show that responsibility for nature and the world stretches across all parts of the public and private realm.

"Garten der Künstler" provides a lucid illustration of the comprehensiveness and diversity of the thematic field. Not only are limits stretched and questioned but the exhibition also plays with such opposites as privacy and the public realm or civilisation and wilderness.

The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive educational programme that establishes a range of thematic focusses by means of workshops and days of action while also using artists’ walks to encourage reflection on the process of artistic practice.

With works by Anna Astleitner, Iris Andraschek, Sonja Bäumel / Manuel Selg, Alexander Biedermann, Cornelia Caufmann, Heinz Cibulka, Rainer Friedl, Sonia Gansterer, Matthew Gardiner, Gudrun Kampl, Michael Kos, Richard Künz, Norbert Maringer, Julie Monaco, Alois Mosbacher, Markus Orsini-Rosenberg, Gotthard Schatz, Josef Schwaiger, Cynthia Schwertsik, Nicole Six / Paul Petritsch, Ingeborg Strobl, Lois Weinberger, Verena Weninger, Clemens Wolf, Erwin Wurm and Robert Zahornicky.
