"When Corita Kent starts to speak I cannot help but listen. Everything she says, tells her students, seems to come from a place of deep reflection. Born in 1918, Corita Kent was a hard worker who spent summers in her studio, a public speaker, one of the faces of Pop art in the US, a college teacher, and an inspiration to artists such as John Cage. She was also a nun. I had been impressed by some of Kent’s silkscreen prints before, but had never heard her speak until the current exhibition at Taxispalais, where director Nina Tabassomi put three groups of works on display: serigraphs dating from 1962 to 1968, Circus Alphabet (1968), and Heroes and Sheroes (1969). Two artist documentaries, letters, and other documents rounded out the show."
